Thanks for stopping by this blog today. I wanted to post a recipe for a Chocolate Rose Face Mask. Why? Because we recently made it at our Denver Medicinal Plant Society Meeting, and it was fantastic! Ounce per ounce, making a clay mask at home is way cheaper then buying it prepared in a store, plus, no toxic chemicals!
Clay masks help smooth the skin, help rid the skin of metals and toxins, may helps soothe inflamed skin due to eczema and psoriasis. Also, it is important to treat ourselves now and again to a moment of self care. Something as simple as making a cup of tea, meditation, stretching, and yes, even a facial mask can help ground us, promote self-worth and ease stress. So, go put your mask on!
Ingredients & Directions:
1 tablespoon of bentonite clay (or green or red clay)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 teaspoon of honey
1 drop of rose essential oil
Water to a smooth consistency.
Mix dry ingredients in a small bowl. Add water until a paste forms. Spread evenly throughout the face, and let the clay completely dry on the face (15-20 minutes) Rinse with warm water.
This recipe can be customized in so many ways. Here are a few options:
1. Brew a cup of green tea in place of the water to add extra antioxidants to the skin.
2. Instead of cocoa powder, use powdered herbs such as calendula or oats for added herbal power
3. A small teaspoon of yogurt helps tighten pores and promotes clear skin
